Mike
Sobocinski earned a B.Sc. in Sociology and a
Master of Urban and Regional Planning degree, and he takes a broad
multi-disciplinary approach to the social sciences, as unified by the
scientific method.
He
is a talented writer. Whether he's writing about sociology or writing
science fiction stories his skills are apparent. His
article, "Future Trends in the World System," was recently
published in an American Sociological Association publication. He
has also written extensive guidance materials about hazard mitigation
planning that are now in official use by the Michigan State Police
and by Local Emergency Management Coordinators throughout the state.
He also enjoys writing fiction, including his most recent work entitled
"Ladybugs and Dirty rain". This science fiction short story
has been submitted into the PARSEC/Confluence Convention writing
contest.
Mike enjoys film, reading, writing, acting, and games. He has
honed his acting skills at the Purple Rose Theater in Chelsea, MI and
performed the lead in Icarus Falling's "Think/Thank/Thunk"
in Lansing. Mike was also a featured actor in the films "A
Father's Worth" and "Relationz". He has written various
monologues for television and recently hosted the Lansing television show, "Time
Slot." Mike made a strong connection with the
"Soundtrack to Life" story and has made invaluable
contributions to the script. Besides Mike's casting and script
responsibilities, he will also be performing in the film as Dr. Vitalo.
