7th Floor’s Soundtrack to Life has evolved through many stages. The two main characters (Julie & Dave) met in a psychiatric hospital and agreed to work together on original songs. Shortly after that meeting they decided to write a show about their unique experiences with depression & recovery. The Soundtrack to Life project was originally conceived as a Rock Opera. The early shows were live music concerts with vocal narrations telling the story. As the show evolved skits, costumes and sets were added until it progressed into a powerful musical. The live show though light and humorous at times, also had a powerful message that affected many people very deeply. So much so that it was not uncommon to see audience members in tears after a performance. From the very beginning the idea that their story would make a great movie was discussed. |
